You cannot simply pull raw iron parts out of the box and start assembling. The secret to a flawless, rust-free build lies in mastering the raw iron cleaning process and applying a protective finish.

Why Raw Pipe Needs Cleaning Before Assembly

If you have ever handled raw black iron fittings, you likely noticed a dark, greasy residue transferring onto your hands. This is not dirt; it is a specialized manufacturing oil.

Step 1: Disassemble All Fittings Completely
