How to Build Your Own Wall Mounted Clothing Rack

Looking for a stylish and practical way to organize your clothes? A wall mounted clothing rack is the perfect solution! Its industrial design and space-saving structure make it ideal for homes, apartments, or even retail spaces. With just a little effort, you can build a durable, functional rack that looks great and keeps your outfits organized. Ready to get started? Let’s walk you through it step-by-step!

What You’ll Need

Here’s a breakdown of all the parts you’ll need to build your clothing rack:

  • (A) 1/2” Flange (Qty: 6)
  • (B) 90° Elbow (Qty: 2)
  • (C) 1/2” Side Outlet Tee (Qty: 2)
  • (D) 1/2” Coupling (Qty: 2)
  • (E) 12” Nipple (Qty: 6)
  • (F) 36” Nipple (Qty: 5)
  • (G) Screws and Anchors (Qty: 16)

Tools you’ll need:

  • Stud finder (if mounting on drywall with studs)
  • Drill with 1/4” drill bit
  • Screwdriver (for attaching flanges)
  • Hammer (to insert wall anchors, if needed)

With these items in hand, let’s dive into building your clothing rack!

Assembling the Clothing Rack

It’s easier to assemble the rack first before mounting it to the wall. Follow these steps to build your structure:

Step 1: Create the Main Frame:

Take one 36” nipple (F) and connect both ends to the angled threads of two side outlet tees (C). Make sure both tees are aligned to face the same direction for a straight frame.

Step 2: Add the Flanges:

Attach a 12” nipple (E) to the other angled openings of both side outlet tees. Screw the opposite ends of these nipples into two flanges (A). These will form the lower part that mounts to the wall.

Step 3: Build the Top Section:

Attach another set of 12” nipples (E) to the top openings of both side outlet tees.

Step 4: Finish Off the Top of the Rack Frame

Connect elbows (B) to the exposed end of the 12” nipples and connect the remaining two 12” nipples to the other end of the elbows. Connect flanges to the end of the nipples opposite the elbows.

Step 5: Connect the Legs

Connect a 36” nipple (F) to each of the bottom ends of the side outlet tees and connect a coupling (D) to each end of the 36” nipple. Connect the remaining two 36” nipples to the couplings and connect the remaining two flanges to each end of the 36” nipples.

Your rack frame is now assembled! It’s time to mount it on the wall.

Mounting the Rack on the Wall

This part is simple but essential. Follow these steps to secure your clothing rack safely:

Step 1: Measure and Mark:

Decide where you want to install the rack. Measure the space and make pencil marks where the flanges will go. Use a level to make sure your lines are straight for a neat installation.

Step 2: Pre-Drill Holes:

If you’re mounting on drywall, drill 1/4” pilot holes at your marks and insert the provided anchors. Tap the anchors gently with a hammer until they’re flush with the wall.

Step 3: Attach the Flanges:

Align the flanges with the pre-drilled holes and use the provided screws to secure them to the wall. Make sure everything is tightly secured—this rack is built to hold up to 50 lbs!

Organize and Style

Your wall mounted clothing rack is now installed and ready to use! Hang your favorite clothes, accessories, and bags for easy access. This versatile piece is perfect for bedrooms, entryways, or retail spaces, adding an industrial flair that’s both stylish and functional.

Bonus Tip: Expand Your Rack: Need more storage space? No problem! Since this rack is modular, you can easily extend it by swapping out the side outlet tees for 5-way tees. Add more sections to fit your growing wardrobe or create a larger display for retail use.

There you have it—a stylish wall mounted clothing rack that’s both functional and chic. With its industrial design and durable construction, it’s a perfect solution for keeping your space organized. Whether you’re displaying your wardrobe or adding a unique touch to your decor, this rack has you covered.
