What It Is: Craft an inviting bird feeder from PIPE DECOR® fittings and recycled household items. Why It’s Great: It’s an excellent DIY home project for those looking to contribute to wildlife conservation. It encourages the use of recycled materials, reduces waste, and creates a backyard sanctuary for birds, all while adding a unique touch to your outdoor space.

  1. Rinse out an old milk carton thoroughly and let it dry. You may also paint the carton with non-toxic paint if you wish to do so.

  2. Using a utility knife or scissors, carefully cut one or two small rectangular windows on opposite sides of the milk carton, about a third of the way up from the bottom. These will be where the birds can access the seed.

  3. Attach a popsicle stick or chopsticks where you cut small windows to serve as a platform for your feathered friends to perch on.

  4. Connect one end of the pipe with the flange and the other end with the cap. This will be mounted on your front or back porch for to hang the bird feeder.

  5. Use string or wire to hang the bird feeder from the pipe construction. Make sure it’s high enough to be out of reach from predators.

  6. Fill the eco-friendly bird feeder with seeds just below the feeding window and watch the birds come to enjoy the feeder.
